THE MONTESSORI APPROACH

The Montessori approach offers a broad vision of education as an aid to life. Montessori is a personalized approach in which each child, respected as an individual, discovers the joy of friendship in a spontaneous way.

Our classrooms are well equipped with Montessori materials, and developmentally appropriate educational aids, and provide an environment where children are free to respond to their inner guidance to acquire different concepts and life skills.

The children develop independence, orderliness, coordination, concentration and self-discipline through their natural desire to work and learn at their own pace.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Children are free to move in the classroom, to talk, and to work with other children or with Montessori equipment previously presented by the directress (teacher). They are not free to disturb other children at work. Freedom is stressed in order to assist each child's potential for physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth.

Montessori children are generally characterized by their self-discipline, self-knowledge, independence, enthusiasm for learning, and organized approach to problem solving. Sugar Creek Montessori aims to help the children grow in many ways by pursuing their interests so they gain an early enthusiasm for learning which is the key to becoming a truly educated person.

"the goal of early childhood education should be to cultivate the child's own natural desire to learn."
-Maria Montessori
