Montessori Philosophy & Curriculum Aims

The Kindergarten program further extends upon the concrete Montessori exercises the children participated in during the Pre-Primary program. The materials and lessons of the classrooms are arranged from simple to complex and concrete to abstract, so that the child may learn by choice of materials. Each piece of the Montessori apparatus is designed to give children a new experience and to develop a specific concept. Children qualifying for the Kindergarten Program are provided opportunities to work with advanced skills in Language, Math, Geography, Science, Social-Studies. Kindergarten students also engage in Spanish, Computers and Library in addition to Music and PE classes once a week. These additional lessons are conducted in the afternoon by trained Montessori staff.
